Who We Work With

Our mentees are migrant and refugee women who are skilled, resilient, highly adaptive, entrepreneurial, multi-lingual, and very hard working, often balancing child care, studying and volunteering, etc.
Laamiga works with up to 100 women a year through its one to one and group mentoring, Open Days, Drop ins and workshops.

Common issues faced by our mentees include:

  • Unemployment
  • Low income
  • Lone parenthood
  • Domestic violence
  • Immigration status
  • Discrimination
  • Harassment

Our mentors are women from diverse backgrounds, who have business experience, either through their own enterprise or as an employee.  They are volunteering their time and expertise to support women in the local community. Most importantly, our mentors bring their passion, enthusiasm and commitment to support other women in achieving their goals and dreams.
